July Physical Media

Good morning, everyone! Another month has passed so I'm back with another haul of what I've gotten throughout July. Although I didn't go out as much as June, I still got a hefty amount with even a grail! Also, just as a quick note, I think I'm going to start trying to plan blog posts out so I can post a bit more regularly. There's some small things I'd like to tweak about my blog in general but we'll get to that whenever.

Movies

For this month, I got fewer movies but I believe it's a much more refined and intentional haul. TASM2 and Thor I ended up getting while at Everyday Music. While I do have a good chunk of Marvel movies, these were things heavily sticking out to me. Aside from Love and Thunder, Across the Spider-verse, and No Way Home, I have all the other Thor and Spider-man movies now. With my collection as a whole, I'm surprisingly super close to completing it. There's some things like Thunderbolts, GOTG: Vol 3, Doctor Strange, etcetera that I'm really wanting, but I'm waiting until I can find them secondhand, preferably on Blu-ray.

Arrow was actually more of an impulse buy. Previously I was gifted the first season and end up finding this copy of the third season while visiting a few thrift shops with friends. I don't think I'll bother completing that whole series physically, but since it was super cheap and I had the first, I figured why not.

The remaining movies I had actually gotten in a super good deal mixed with the compact comics in the next section! I participated in a focus group early last month and ended up getting a credit for Amazon. Initially I was just going to get a comic and "All We Imagine As Light" since the Criterion Collection is having one of their half off deal, but then I found this "3 for the price of 2" deal on there. Clearly I folded. I've been wanting to replace my copy of Blade and finally found the trilogy on sale, Past Lives and Exhuma were films I had really loved and just saw they were part of the deal so I couldn't resist. These three, technically five if you included each Blade film, along with the three comics only ended up costing me $12 out of pocket, so I was super stoked. Although I loved Past Lives, it hurt me a lot during my first watch so I'm going to hold off a bit before using it. I'm super excited to rewatch Blade due to his official release in Marvel Rivals this Friday. I really love Kim Go-eun, the female lead in Exhuma, so I think it might be my next (re)watch!

Comics

Most are probably aware, the new Superman and Fantastic Four movies released in July! I was able to see Superman a day early and also went to a special event for the Fantastic Four premiere (I may talk about this in another post). There was so much surrounding these releases and as someone who likes comics, I never really got heavily into them so I didn't know much about any of the characters aside from general knowledge. From my understanding, Marvel's Premiere Collection and DC Compacts are good ways to jump into their stories if you have the slightest bit of background info. During July, I also finally got around to watch Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. I ended up enjoying it a lot more than I thought I would so I used my last "deal item" for the Black Panther MPC.

Astonishing X-Men was something I got during the thrifting I did with friends. I've always enjoyed the original X-Men movies and have been wanting to get into their comics for a while. Although I found out after buying that it's kind of a mixed run for readers, I didn't hate it.

I actually found TAWOG: Tunnel Kingdom just before the Fantastic Four premiere! I have a very similar few comics for Over the Garden Wall and didn't know there were other short comics like this for other animated shows! With the Gumball reboot, I'm definitely planning a proper rewatch and watch soon!

Games

For additional context, I recently applied to a chef academy. I should find out sometime this month if I get accepted into their September cohort. With that being said, I don't know how to cook. I love Cooking Mama and can obviously whip up something small for myself, but that's it. I remembered from ages ago that DS systems were initially very "useful" for lack of a better word. The cartridges weren't just used for games but also software in general. I ended up finding Personal Trainer: Cooking for the DS for dirt cheap. It functions similarly to a recipe books, planner, and grocery list oddly enough. As stated previously, Cooking Mama is just super fun and I found both of these games pretty much brand new while on that same thrifting trip. The only thing is that World Kitchen absolutely kicks my ass. I'm only really used to the mobile game and initial DS game, so I was stressed the hell out trying to FLY to catch toast before a dog in it. I haven't tried out Cook Off yet, but I hear it's a lot closer to that experience.

Music

Finally, while at Everyday Music, I found one of my grails! Since it's release, I've never been able to find IZ*ONE's One-reeler Act IV for anything below 40 dollars and even then it would still be missing things. I found this in essentially perfect condition with everything still inside for HALF of the bare minimum price I was seeing online. I was genuinely shocked to the point where I gasped. There were other albums like it at the shops as well for my main girl group, Loona, but I already had some version of the albums there.I did also find Everglow's Last Melody there super cheap with every thing as well.

I definitely have to start reorganizing some things because my shelves are starting to fill up but I'm having a good time. I really enjoy being able to share everything with you all and getting to see the other things people collect. I did have something I ordered that hasn't arrived yet, so hopefully I can include it in next month's post. 😊
